Are you betting against yourself?
When I was in the Army, I had someone close to me bet against my success. I mean he literally bet money against me. If you knew me in those days, you may know that physical activity wasn’t my strong suit. So, to be honest, he was betting I wouldn’t pass my PT test and probably thought that was a pretty safe bet based on my history.
What he didn’t know was that someone told me about that bet. What he also failed to recognize is I absolutely hate the idea of letting someone else define me and my capabilities.
Ladies, I don’t have to know you to know that there are many many expectations that society places on you, and the weight of those expectations is extremely heavy. I know that sometimes you feel like the odds are stacked against you and that if someone were to bet against you, you just may place a bet in their favor. I’ve been there too.
But what if you chose to bet on yourself instead? What if you used that doubt to your advantage? What if you proved to yourself that you can do it after all?
Did I pass the PT test?
YEP!
Did I use the knowledge of his shitty bet to help propel me when it got really tough?
I sure did!
Did I use examples like that success to build confidence in myself over the years?
Absolutely!
I’m curious how many of you can relate to some part of this story?
I’d love if you’d reach out to me directly and let me know how you are betting on YOU today. Email me at HeatherJ@HeatherJonesCoaching.com or reach out on one of my social media channels found at the bottom of this post.
