Hello, beautiful mompreneur! I’ve got a story for you today that I am absolutely stoked to share, and it comes straight from the heart of a mom who just wrapped up another season of cheering on her little baseball player.
So, my son is finishing up his second season of baseball. But, something intriguing happened that sparked a thought in my head. I thought, “This isn’t just about baseball. This is about life. About us mompreneurs!” And I just knew I had to share it with you.
In the first few games of the season, my son was eagerly swinging at the ball. Sometimes he’d hit, sometimes he’d miss. It’s all part of the game, right? But then, something shifted. He started to get too deep into his own thoughts and let perfectionism creep in. He stopped swinging altogether. Pep talks from me, his dad, his teammates—none of them seemed to do the trick. His mind was a fortress that none of us could breach.
Now, here’s the kicker: he has a batting coach and he hits the ball almost every time during practice. But inside a game? That was a different ball game altogether. I knew that if he could just swing at the ball one time—just once—it wouldn’t matter if he hit it or not. He would break the pattern of not swinging. But, nobody could do it for him. He had to make the decision to swing, even without the certainty of hitting the ball.
And then, the moment finally arrived. He swung at a ball. And that was all he needed, just as I had anticipated. He broke free from the grip of his mental block, and he started swinging away again.
What a relief, right? But let’s dive a bit deeper. This story isn’t just about my son or baseball. It’s about all of us. How many times have we found ourselves so deep inside our own heads that we couldn’t seem to get out of the ditch we’ve dug for ourselves? In sports, they call this “the yips.” But we’re not immune to it in our businesses or personal lives either.
Think about it. How often have you held back from taking action because you were afraid of not doing it perfectly? Maybe you’ve been sitting on a brilliant business idea, but you’re too scared to take the first step because what if you fail? What if you don’t hit the ball?
But here’s the thing, my fellow go-getters, you don’t need to hit the ball. You just need to swing. Just like my son, you have to decide to take action, regardless of whether you know you’ll succeed or not. It’s about breaking the pattern of inaction, stepping out of your comfort zone, and daring to make a move.
So, I want to encourage you today. Don’t let the fear of failure or the need for perfection keep you stuck in the batter’s box. Take a swing. It doesn’t matter if you hit or miss. What matters is that you break free from the yips and step back into the game. Because you, my friend, are a power hitter in the making.
Remember, you’re not alone in this. We’re all facing our own pitches. Let’s empower each other to keep swinging, no matter what. After all, we’re mompreneurs, and there’s no challenge we can’t face boldly and confidently.
So, are you ready to take your swing? Let’s do this!
