Over the years I’ve spent A LOT of time on personal and professional development. For many of those years, my development focus was focused on becoming a thriving entrepreneur. Notice how I said thriving and not successful.
Of course I strive for success. But more than that, it’s important to maintain a healthy balance between work/fun/relaxation…you get the point. Why? Well, because I don’t just want to succeed at the expense of exhaustion. I want to enjoy that success. And that is what I hope for you as well. In fact, that’s a huge part of what I work on with my clients.
With that said, I’ve come up with a list of my favorite resources in a number of areas to maximize your personal/professional growth. Keep in mind that more often than not, these two things overlap.
As someone who loves to read, this section of Amazon goodies is one of my favorites.
Books
With a simple search for “self-help books”, “personal development books” or “professional development books” you’ll turn up an extensive list of what’s available out there. I’ve gotten the search kicked of for you here: https://amzn.to/3KRyLpf
Of course I have a few specifics I’ll recommend as well.
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod was one of the very first personal development books I read when I started my entrepreneurial journal and I still recommend it today. https://amzn.to/3GmJsNS
Atomic Habits by James Clear is another must read https://amzn.to/3mbKi9l
Self-Esteem by Matthew McKay and Patrick Fanning https://amzn.to/3MqVl93
Start With Why by Simon Sinek https://amzn.to/3KoX50
Intuitive Eating by Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole https://amzn.to/3ZTPsVe
Truth be told, I love a good ol paper back book in my hands. I know that there’s a whole lot of people who prefer a digital option, though. If a paperback option doesn’t call to you for any number of reasons, snag yourself a Kindle. Don’t let not wanting to use physical books deter you from digging into all the goodness in those pages. https://amzn.to/3nUghLr
Audio Books
Listen, I know we’re all busy these days and the idea of having to fit one more thing into your schedule might just drive you over the edge. That’s why I love audio books. They are one of my favorite ways to grow my knowledge even when I don’t have time to sit down. When you’re at the gym, on a walk, doing the dishes, taking a shower, on a long drive, etc. an audiobook is the perfect way to dig into some knowledge, that you’ll of course implement later. Don’t forget, knowledge is important, but it’s only potential power. The power is behind the implementation.
You can try Audible Plus and get 2 free audiobooks!!! https://amzn.to/3Uhprhg
You even place an order for something and no sooner did you hit the purchase button than you realized…you forgot something! UGH!!! I do that all the time with my Amazon purchases, but gratefully Amazon has this handy dandy option called Amazon Prime. Think this might be a good fit for you too? Journals (prompted and not)
Did you know that I also create journals? I have a range of topics from self-love to goals setting, self-care, and even some 5-minute journals. Those live right here https://amzn.to/3Gt5huZ
