From not enough to enough already
Do you ever wish your could just STOP the negative self-talk already???
Let me paint you a picture: You’re juggling deadlines, dishes, daycare drop-offs, the whole incredible mom life. (Seriously, high fives for you!) But even the most amazing moms can get stuck in a cycle of negative self-talk. That nagging voice in your head telling you you’re not good enough, you’re not doing enough, and you’ll never quite measure up.
Sound familiar? If you’re nodding your head right now, this post is for you. Because today, we’re going to challenge that inner critic and rewrite the script on that negative self-talk.
Let’s Be Real: Your Inner Critic Can Be a Jerk
We’ve all been there. That inner critic shows up when you’re writing a blog post and whispers “your ideas are stupid.” It hits you during a sales slump, hissing “you’re a failure.” It thrives on comparison, reminding you of that seemingly perfect entrepreneur you follow online.
Maybe it even replays embarrassing conversations in your head at night, keeping you up way past bedtime. We’ve all got that inner critic, and sometimes it can feel like a sassy Aunt Hester taking a permanent backseat driver position in your life.
Turning Your Inner Critic into Your Cheerleader
Here’s the good news: You are in control of the narrative. You get to choose what voice you listen to. So, how do we silence the critic and turn it into your personal cheerleader?
1. Awareness is Key:
The first step is catching yourself in those critical moments. Pay attention to what that voice is saying, when it tends to show up, and how it makes you feel.
2. Challenge the Thoughts:
Don’t just accept those negative thoughts as truth! Take a deep breath and ask yourself, “Is this really true? Would I talk to a friend this way?” We’d never talk to our kids that way, so why let that voice bully us?
3. Replace with Positive Affirmations:
Instead of beating yourself up, counter those negative thoughts with positive affirmations. “I am capable,” “I am worthy,” “I am building something amazing.” And don’t forget to give yourself evidence to support those affirmations!
4. Focus on Progress, not Perfection:
You don’t have to be perfect to be successful. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Every step forward counts! Don’t wait for the “big win” to celebrate – acknowledge the little victories too.
5. Find Your Support Squad:
Surround yourself with positive, supportive people who believe in you and your dreams. These are the people who will lift you up and remind you of your awesomeness.
Want to Go Deeper?
- Journaling: Prompts like “What evidence contradicts this negative thought?” can be a powerful way to uncover deeper truths.
Remember, Mama, You Are Enough!
You are strong, capable, and resourceful. You are building a business and a life you can be proud of. Don’t let that inner critic steal your shine.
